What is McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release (MSTR)?

MSTR is a pain-free, evidence based method of helping you with your scars. Gentle finger-tip pressure is applied to the area to help free the restrictions that the scar has been creating over the past months or years. By releasing the binding scar tissue, MSTR can produce dramatic changes that you can see and feel, even if your scar is years old.

Psychological and emotional states may also improve as scar tissue is addressed and the patient experiences better integration and normalisation of the tissues.

Why should I have MSTR?
The treatment of scar tissue is a vital, and often overlooked, element in the treatment of musculoskeletal and myofascial pain. According to research, untreated scar tissue may make other therapeutic interventions less effective or not last as long; resulting in you returning to your practitioner for further treatment.

Scar tissue can:

  • Create restrictions in fascia (connective tissue)
  • Reduce blood and lymph flow
  • Inhibit movement and functionality
  • Cause pain or numbness
  • Create anxiety and self image problems
When should I see an MSTR practitioner?

MSTR is primarily designed for:

  • Surgical scars including laparoscopic scar?
  • Trauma wound scars including burn scars
  • Non-visible scar tissue like sports injuries

Additionally, MSTR can be used with great effect for:

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Restricted shoulders

Jayne Townsend is your Falmouth based approved MSTR practitioner, trained to treat you and your scars in a sensitive, caring manner. Treatments can be stand alone, working specifically on the presenting scar tissue; or integrated as a whole body treatment with Bowen Therapy.

Appointments last up to an hour, and often 1 – 2 treatments are all that is needed to see lasting results
