Get to know: Debbie, relational therapist

Hello

I would like to take this opportunity to let people know a little bit about how I work as a psychotherapist and the availability I have for new clients.

I am a relational therapist; in brief this means that I am more interested in you, your experiences and our relationship rather than ‘techniques’. It is my understanding and experience that we all engage and process experiences differently; we require different time scales to make sense of things and to ‘feel better’. I studied Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy which fundamentally believes that everybody is ‘OK’ has the ability to think and be well with the right support…

Some of my clients attend because they have experienced a trauma; a bereavement, relationship break down or other loss. Some are experiencing depression and/or anxiety. For some there is a sense that ‘something is just not right’ or they are feeling disturbed by difficult experiences or behaviours they find themselves repeating… Whatever the reason, having a trained, experienced, empathic and confidential person to make sense of things with, really can help.

I tend to work with people in the medium and long term. I advise people to have an initial session to see if I and the way I work, feels right for them. If they decide to continue, we then think and agree together the focus of the sessions and goals.

I now have additional availability from mid-June on the following days/times:

Mondays: 13.00, 14.00 and 15.00

Fridays: 09.00, 11.00 and 12.00

Please feel free to get in touch via email drowlandsconsultant@hotmail.co.uk or by telephone: 07800 842358 with any questions or to book an initial session. Whilst it can feel a little bit scary making this first step, I advise you to take a deep breath and trust that you are doing the right thing; from thereon in you will be supported all of the way on your journey to feeling you/well again…

Best wishes

Debbie
