About Inner Warrior Therapy

Inner Warrior Therapy was founded by Carl Stephens, a Transactional Analysis Psychotherapist in advanced clinical training who specialises in men’s mental health, helping men work with anxiety, anger, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.

Many men grow up learning to push emotions aside, deal with problems alone, and keep performing under pressure. Over time this can lead to stress, relationship difficulties, emotional disconnection, or feeling stuck in repeating patterns.

Therapy offers a space to pause, reflect, and understand what is happening beneath the surface.

Carl’s approach focuses on helping men develop greater self-awareness, emotional understanding, and healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.

Carl’s Therapeutic Approach

Carl works using Transactional Analysis (TA), a practical and structured form of psychotherapy that helps people understand:

How early life experiences shape patterns in adulthood

How communication and relational dynamics develop

How unconscious beliefs influence emotions and behaviour

Therapy focuses on increasing self-awareness, emotional understanding, and relational insight, while developing new ways of responding to challenges in the present.

Carl’s style is relational, respectful, and grounded, while also offering thoughtful challenge where it supports growth and change.

Working With Men

A central focus of Carl’s work is supporting men who may be struggling with:

  • Anxiety, stress, or burnout
  • Anger and emotional regulation
  • Relationship and communication difficulties
  • Confidence and self-esteem
  • The impact of past experiences or trauma
  • Questions of identity, purpose, or direction

Coming from a rugby background, Carl understands the culture many men grow up within, where strength and performance are valued, but emotional expression is often overlooked.

Therapy provides a space where men can think, feel, and speak openly without judgement.

What Therapy Can Offer

Many people come to therapy because they notice repeating patterns in their lives but are unsure how to change them.

Together, Carl and his clients work to:

  • Identify recurring patterns in relationships and behaviour
  • Understand how these patterns developed
  • Explore emotions that may have been suppressed or avoided
  • Develop new ways of responding to life’s challenges

The aim is not simply insight, but lasting change and a stronger sense of self.

Booking

If you would like to explore whether therapy is right for you, you are welcome to arrange a 30-minute consultation, which is £30.

Sessions take place at The Wellness Hub in Falmouth, a calm and supportive space for therapeutic work.
